Beyond teaching, Mr. Miller is a sought-after presenter at conferences and training programs across Maryland, including the University of Maryland DUI Institute, the Governor's Office of Crime Prevention and Policy, and the Maryland State's Attorney's Association Trial Advocacy Course.
Jason G. Miller is a criminal defense attorney and founding partner of Miller Berman, LLC, based in Lanham, Maryland. With over 17 years of experience in criminal law, he brings a rare combination of prosecutorial insight and defense-focused advocacy to every case he handles. After spending 15 years as a prosecutor in the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office, Mr. Miller transitioned to criminal defense with a clear mission: to provide clients with top-tier legal representation in a compassionate, client-centered setting.
Mr. Miller earned his Juris Doctorate cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2009, where he served as a staff editor of the Law Review and competed as a member of the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law Mock Trial Team. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology from Eastern Kentucky University, with a concentration in fire, arson, and explosion investigation.
Since January 2023, Mr. Miller has served as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Baltimore School of Law, teaching Introduction to Trial Advocacy to first-year law students. His commitment to education extends well beyond the classroom. He was certified by the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commission as an instructor in constitutional law, criminal law, search warrants, use of force, and charging documents. In 2023, he received his NHTSA certification as a DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Test instructor, giving him specialized insight into how law enforcement builds DUI cases and, critically, how to challenge them.
Mr. Miller is a frequent presenter at legal and law enforcement training programs throughout Maryland, including the University of Maryland DUI Institute, the Maryland State's Attorney's Association Trial Advocacy Course, the Governor's Office of Crime Prevention and Policy conference, and the Anne Arundel County Police Academy. He has also served as lead instructor and course facilitator for the International Association of Arson Investigators' Expert Witness Courtroom Testimony Program, where he is recognized as a nationally respected subject matter expert in fire and arson investigation.
His leadership in the legal community reflects the same dedication he brings to clients and students alike. He currently serves as Chairperson of the MCDAA Anne Arundel County Judicial Nominating Committee, an At-Large Member of the Maryland State Bar Association Board of Governors, a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association, and Faculty at the Center for Hope Forensic Interview Research and Education.
Mr. Miller lives in Anne Arundel County with his wife and two children. Outside of the courtroom and classroom, he enjoys attending his children's sporting events, hiking, running, and fishing.
