Dr. Kalyan Singhal, a Distinguished University Professor and the Doris E. and Robert V. McCurdy Chair at the Merrick School of Business, University of Baltimore, has left an indelible mark on the field of production and operations management.

His journey began with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay (Mumbai), an institution so highly regarded that CBS' 60 Minutes described it as "Harvard, MIT, and Princeton put together.” Dr. Singhal's entrepreneurial drive led him to establish the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) in 1989, fostering a global community of scholars and practitioners. In 1992, he further shaped the field with the launch of the journal Production and Operations Management (POM), where his enduring leadership as editor-in-chief makes him the longest-serving editor of a leading management and business journal among the prestigious BusinessWeek and Financial Times rankings.

His dedication to advancing business thought is also evident in his role as founder, publisher, and co-editor-in-chief of the Management and Business Review (MBR), recognized by Forbes as a rival to the Harvard Business Review. Dr. Singhal's expertise is further validated by his numerous publications in top-tier journals and his Fellow status in INFORMS and POMS.
