Third Cohort Graduates from Schaefer Center's Lauded Public Management Program

The third cohort of government and nonprofit managers and supervisors to graduate from the Maryland Certified Public Manager Program has been announced by the University of Baltimore's Schaefer Center for Public Policy. Participants in the program began their course of study in April 2014, and completed the program with the presentation of their capstone projects on July 17.
Reflecting on the graduates and their course of study, Ann Cotten, director of the Schaefer Center and the Maryland Certified Public Manager Program, said, "By completing the rigorous 300 hours required by the program, these CPM candidates have demonstrated their commitment to professional public service. They are prepared to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars and improve outcomes for the people they serve."

The CPM program is accredited by the National Consortium of Certified Public Managers. Through this leadership development program, participants gain the comprehensive, applied public sector management skills needed to meet the complex demands and challenges of the 21st century public management environment. The CPM program is a 15-month, non-residential course resulting in a certificate. It is offered in cohort format to groups of 25 participants.
Currently recognized in 38 states, the CPM certification allows credentialed graduates to connect to a national professional network of Certified Public Managers and to a local network of fellow CPM graduates.
The program is intended for federal, state, local and nonprofit employees who supervise or manage employees or large projects in Maryland.
