The University of Baltimore's efforts to popularize the Giving Tuesday movement has resulted in a CASE Gold award. At the CASE District II conference, held Feb. 25-27 in National Harbor, Md., UB received the top accolade in the category of "Creativity on a Shoestring."
For the past several years, the University has encouraged campus community participation in Giving Tuesday, "a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration," according to its founders.
"Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving," according to the official Giving Tuesday website.
The University's Office of Institutional Advancement started a #BowOnPoe social campaign to recognize gifts made on Giving Tuesday. It was this effort that earned the CASE recognition.
