The Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance, part of The University of Baltimore's Jacob France Institute and an ongoing effort to strengthen city neighborhoods through the development and dissemination of open data about local neighborhoods, is the recipient of two awards for its work.
Last month, BNIA-JFI received the Legacy Impact Award from the Community Indicators Consortium for its landmark series of reports, known as Vital Signs. These reports measure Baltimore's progress toward strong neighborhoods.
In addition, Seema Iyer, associate director of the Jacob France Institute, research assistant professor at UBalt and director of the Real Estate and Economic Development undergraduate program in the University's Merrick School of Business, authored an op-ed in The Baltimore Sun about the city's long-term population loss and what it must do to turn around those numbers.
