Flexible scheduling

Although your certificate can be fully completed online, you can also complete courses in a blended synchronous environment, connecting on-campus and online students to prioritize flexibility and accessibility. This program is 12 credits and, most of the time, can be completed in as little as one year.

  • understanding the role of the nonprofit sector, its scope, economics, significance and history
  • analyzing issues related to the unique legal, ethical and governance structures of the nonprofit sector
  • developing financial models to ensure sustainability of nonprofits, including fundraising, philanthropic gifts and the use of social enterprise mechanisms
  • identifying the different types of accountability under which nonprofit organizations must operate, including financial accountability and accountability to multiple stakeholders.

Admission Information

  • A qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Applicants who do not meet all of these qualifications may, with the approval of the program's admission committee, be accepted if there is space available. Additional criteria may apply; see the UBalt Graduate Catalog for further information.
  • Let us know when you are ready to earn your master's degree by applying to the program. Our online application will only take you a few minutes to complete. Before you submit the application, you’ll be asked to use your credit card or bank account to pay the $50 application fee.
  • A Statement of Personal Interest can be submitted electronically as part of the online application.
  • Insider tips: The earlier you apply and submit a completed application, the faster you’ll receive an admission decision. Each one of your supporting admission documents may be sent individually. Your admission portal will keep track of what the UBalt Admission team has received.
    • When you attend an information session or discuss your application with an Admission counselor be sure to get your application fee waiver code and save yourself $50.
  • Official transcript(s). Request that an official transcript of all prior college or university work (including graduate courses, if applicable) be sent directly from each institution attended; electronic transcripts are encouraged.
  • Have at least one professor or employer submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. It should be sent to documents@ubalt.edu
