JFI's Economic and Workforce Development Program provides research and technical assistance to government, nonprofit and private sector clients on economic, fiscal and workforce development issues.
The Program has a fifteen year history of providing both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to support program planning and evaluation for a diverse Maryland and national clientele.
The Program is skilled in both the identification and use of government statistics and generation and use of original data to support high impact, actionable research and evaluation. The Program specializes in issues relating to technology-led economic development, the importance and role of higher education, economic and workforce development strategic planning, and general economic and fiscal impact analysis.
The JFI’s Economic and Workforce Development Program provides economic; economic and fiscal impact; economic and workforce development strategic planning; policy, and real estate analysis; evaluation and research services to federal, state, and local government, private sector, and non-profit clients. The JFI has prepared economic or workforce development strategies to Baltimore, Frederick, and Prince George’s counties, the City of Bowie and the Town of Edmonston and has prepared three economic development strategies for the State of Maryland. The JFI provides an annual fiscal forecast to Howard County and has conducted economic impact studies for: Lifebridge Health; University of Maryland, College Park; University of Maryland, Baltimore; and the Maryland Technology Development Corporation among others. The JFI serves as consulting real estate economist for many of Maryland’s largest real estate projects including Port Covington, Harborplace, Viva White Oak, Pimlico, and multiple other projects. The JFI has a national practice in technology-based economic development and has completed projects in more than ten states, with a focus on innovation district.
