More than 350,000 people sampled art, culture and cuisine in the streets surrounding UB during July’s Artscape, a weekend-long event that has grown immensely over the past three decades to become the nation’s largest free arts festival. As usual, UB joined in the fun, using the glass corner of the UB Student Center as a canvas to show off what the University has down to a fine art: providing Knowledge That Works.
The installation began as a hand-drawn, diamond-shaped doodle created by UB’s marketing partner, idfive. After being digitally scaled to thousands of times its original size, workers carefully adhered what are essentially window clings to the side of the building, level by level. Once complete, the artwork drew plenty of attention and was quite the conversation piece on social media during the festivities. Haven’t seen it yet? Stop on by; it’ll stick around until the new year.
