Overview of MBS Direct, the online textbook vendor
The Barnes & Noble bookstore in the Fitzgerald complex closed in June 2018, and Barnes & Noble relocated to the Student Center first floor Hive location to operate a campus store with logo apparel, hats, computers, course packets, snacks and Starbucks drinks. Textbooks were placed online with vendor MBS Direct , and textbooks are still ordered for both the UB campus and Shady Grove through the FacultyEnlight link shown in the left hand menu.
This is the online view students see, and you may use this site to check that your textbook appears correctly. Enter the course number in the box on the right and click the correct section to select it. Click the blue arrow in the bottom right to see the textbook view.
Students may use financial aid to buy textbooks and to pay for shipping. Books can be shipped to a student’s home or workplace, or to campus. There are several dates each semester by which orders placed can be shipped for free to the campus , and then distributed in the Student Center.
Important: To date, there have been technical problems with the information sent from Barnes & Noble’s FacultyEnlight to MBS Direct’s data feed. Both vendors have been working diligently to improve their processes and will have corrected all systems by the time spring textbooks may be entered in FacultyEnlight. Because data integrity issues have been observed, all professors are encouraged to check their textbooks online at the same site the students use , shown in the screenshot above.
Here is the link to log into FacultyEnlight , and here is a link to a "tips" page to provide more detail about using FacultyEnlight, working with the textbook vendor MBS Direct, and the process for ordering course packets.
