We're recruiting an experienced accountant to manage departmental budgetary and financial transactions using sound judgement and attention to detail. Your successful financial and audit experience will lead you to succeed in this role. You will retain documentation to ensure effective accountability and serve as a custodian of departmental resources and assets.
Perform routine audits at prescribed intervals to monitor departmental revenue and confirm vendor contract performance. Continually expand the departmental audit process to ensure adaptability to new circumstances, and overall improvement. Coordinate the pre-tax payroll deduction process with a high degree of accuracy, including the monitoring of transactional changes. Serve as a departmental resource to prepare routine and ad hoc reports. Write procedures and reports with research and visual aids as needed. Other duties as assigned, including covering in the Bee Card office.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. College course in auditing.
Experience: One year of experience managing financial processes and performing audits in a non-profit and business environment. Customer service experience with internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Two or more years of experience managing financial processes and performing audits in a higher education environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience designing and conducting audits, to evaluating audits’ effectiveness and subsequently developing revisions to achieve an improved process. Ability to work with department members to design, conduct, evaluate and continually improve audits and their effectiveness as a management tool. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and the ability to apply this knowledge to departmental work in task planning, spreadsheet preparation, analysis and presentation. Ability to complete transactions with a high level of accuracy, and to work with other departments to investigate and resolve discrepancies. Ability to clearly present verbally, in writing and with visual exhibits, detailed information to department members. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with departmental and customer information. Ability to resolve customer needs in a highly professional manner, understanding that Auxiliary is a high-touch customer service area.
