Serving in the Office of the Comptroller, within the Division of Administration and Finance, the Accounts Payable Manager ensures the University’s accounts payable system aligns with the State of Maryland’s financial system; serves as primary triage and problem-solver related to the misalignment with State and institutional accounting systems, in addition to errors resulting in non-compliance or lack of familiarity with accounts payable processes, requirements and resources. This role is responsible for performing, reviewing and/or correcting all associated accounting functions and system actions, including daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation and adjusting entries and journals to revenue, payroll and general operating expenses. The Accounts Payable Manager reviews the processing of institutional inter-departmental bills, inter-agency payments or transfers and entries into the University’s financial system. This position reviews compliance with and ensures accuracy of the creation of student account refunds in the State’s financial system and the accuracy of vendor information in both financial systems. The Accounts Payable Manager performs accounts payable reporting to senior leadership, USM and external requestors and serves as the institutional liaison with State of Maryland’s General Accounting Division for accounts payable matters. This role provides supervision and training to assigned staff. This position requires a Baccalaureate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field; five years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable and/or Accounting field; and two years in a supervisory role. Experience working with integrated data is also required. Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and experience working with PeopleSoft Finance and /or any State of Maryland systems (R*STARS, FMIS, and TSO) preferred.
