Our ideal candidate for the Assistant Director is a service-oriented team player with the ability to help enhance our services and programs. The Assistant Director of Employer Relations promotes success and career outcomes of UB students by helping the UB Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) accomplish three primary strategic goals: (1) develop expert career managers; (2) promote the integration of career development campus wide, and (3) facilitate synergy between students, alumni and the employment community. Works collaboratively and cooperatively to provide leadership and visioning in the establishment of policies and procedures to deliver comprehensive career services to UB students. Recruits, supervises and evaluates the Job Location and Recruitment Coordinator. Develops and manages employer relationships with the goal of increasing student networks, internships and employment opportunities. Sets aggressive outreach goals and builds new relationships with employers in the Baltimore Metro Area through outreach meetings, attendance at key workforce events and communications. Manages all aspects of the On Campus Interview program. Plans and executes multiple career related events annually including job fairs. Utilizes the Symplicity Career Services Management system. Produces recruitment related outcomes assessment and student job attainment reports. Uses CPDC’s Career Cycle methodology and provides limited job readiness and employability skills coaching and workshop/presentations to UB students.
Develop and Manage Employer Relationships:
Utilize Symplicity Career Management System to share job opportunities with students, connect with employers, schedule interviews and coordinate events. Coordinate several job fairs annually targeted at relevant industries such as Arts and Sciences, Public Affairs and Business. Maintains and updates online resources and address employer questions. Manages the On Campus Interview programming including on campus interviews, visibility tables and information sessions. Connects employers to faculty and administrators for participation in special seminars, hosting opportunities, interviews, etc. Partners with Alumni Relations to create a baseline of key alumni to strengthen and identify job development opportunities. Sets aggressive outreach goals, track progress and build sustainable relationships with employers. Represents the University and Career Services at local, regional, and national professional association conferences and professional development workshops.
Employer Outreach:
Develops and maintains employer relationships by identifying employment needs; actively promoting on-campus and remote recruitment of UB student talent to employers. Assists employers in building their presence and brand on campus; creates adequate marketing opportunities to advertise employer events and postings. Works with employers to develop internships and other various experiential opportunities that increase student’s professional success. Garners sponsors for career events and work with Director to identify sponsors to fund departmental needs. Conceptualizes digital and print marketing needs for employer outreach.
Supervision of Staff/Administration:
Provides direct supervision to Job Development & Recruitment Coordinator and Graduate Assistant for Employer Relations. Collaborates with Director of Career Center on departmental operations and strategic planning especially related to employer services and development. Provides support to coaching staff in the absence of Director.
Outcomes Assessment: Develops and implements outcomes based assessments to measure effectiveness of employer partnerships and services. Surveys student and faculty engagement with employers and uses feedback to determine future efforts. Prepares annual reports on recruiting, employer development, and student job attainment.
Divisional and University-wide Participation: Serve on special committees as requested.
Required Education and Experience:
Education: Baccalaureate degree in human resources, business, communications, marketing or related field/discipline.
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience in career services, workforce development, employer relations, recruitment or human resources.
Preferred Education and Experience
Education: Master’s degree in human resources, business, communications or related field.
Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience career services, workforce development, employer relations, recruitment or human resources.
