The Klein Family School of Communications Design, housed in the University of Baltimore’s College of Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of communication to begin August, 2017 (contingent on final budgetary approval).
The 3/3 teaching load will consist initially of a combination of introductory courses in speech communication, as well as other courses in the division based on the candidate’s qualifications. The ideal candidate will bring to the job a knowledge of current developments in the discipline and its pedagogy; a record of scholarly activities appropriate to the rank of assistant professor, and the potential for excellence in teaching and service to her or his profession and to the university.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Teach lower and upper division oral communication and related courses, some of which may be parts of interdisciplinary learning communities.
• Manage multi-section oral communication courses
• Supervise part-time faculty
• Contribute to developing new courses
• Advocate for the importance of oral communication competence across the university
Qualifications:
• Required: Ph.D. Speech communication or related discipline; teaching experience.
• Preferred: experience creating and managing oral communication courses; ability to teach related subjects—rhetoric, public relations, media analysis, etc.

Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s background, experience, and record of achievement. Employment offer is contingent on the position’s funding.
