The Director of Enterprise Data Management and Governance provides leadership and oversight of an institutional data governance and management framework that ensures active stewardship, data quality, change management, compliance, policy, documentation and education that enables the effective administration of the university. Data usage and data sources will be managed through the data stewardship principles of administering and controlling data quality and standards in support of institutional goals and objectives. Moreover, this position provides leadership and consulting to advance data management and use initiatives, serving as a liaison between areas to guide clear definition, communication, and understanding of data-related business requirements, university needs and business unit interdependencies. It serves as a subject matter expert and facilitates activities to address current compelling data challenges: compliance and reporting obligations, data risks, and data quality.

Key areas of responsibility include:
• Establishes and oversees an active informed data governance structure and culture that participates in change management and values the criticality of data definition and consistency.
• Establishes and maintains a program to ensure high-quality data, with documentation, to support efficient reporting and decision-making throughout the University.
• Advances data improvement and use initiatives by providing leadership to academic and administrative units throughout the University, prioritizing efforts based on risk and return on investment.
• Designs, implements and maintains a program that promotes the effective management of data including identification, inventory, classification, protection and retention.
• Drives regulatory compliance and related policy development for data and data-related topics including privacy and security.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or related field/discipline
Experience: 7 years of increasingly complex systems and business analysis, 5 years of progressive management / leadership experience, and proven experience in evaluating and documenting business functions and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master of Science degree in Computer Science, or related field/discipline. Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) or similar certification
Experience: More than 5 years of progressive IT management experience. More than 8 years of experience leading/managing large-scale complex technology implementations requiring coordination across multi-organizational teams. Significant experience in a higher education environment in a leadership/management role.
