Welcome to the College of Public Affairs at the University of Baltimore.
Whether you are exploring your next educational step, advancing your career, or seeking to make a meaningful difference through public service, our college is designed to support your goals and aspirations.
The College of Public Affairs is a community of students, faculty, and practitioners committed to improving lives through education, research, and public engagement. Located in the heart of Baltimore, our work is deeply connected to the city, the state of Maryland, and public service networks across the nation and world. We prepare students to lead with purpose, integrity and impact in the public sector, including government, nonprofit, health, justice and policy settings.
Student success is central to our mission. Our faculty combine academic excellence with real-world experience, serving as mentors who challenge students to think critically and apply knowledge to complex public policy challenges. Through experiential learning, internships, applied research, and community-based projects, students gain the skills and confidence needed to pursue meaningful careers in public service.
We offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, certificates, and continuing education opportunities, with flexible learning options that include in-person, hybrid, and online formats. Our programs are designed to meet students where they are—supporting working adults, career changers, and those seeking to advance their professional practice.

The college is also home to four applied research centers that connect scholarship to practice and strengthen communities: the Schaefer Center for Public Policy, the Center for Public Safety Innovation, the Center for Advancing Prevention Excellence, and the Center for Justice-Impacted Students. Signature initiatives such as our Second Chance program and NextGen Leaders for Public Service further reflect our commitment to access, opportunity, and experiential learning.
A degree from the College of Public Affairs is more than a credential—it is preparation for a career dedicated to service and leadership. I invite you to explore our programs, engage with our faculty and centers, and discover how the College of Public Affairs can help you turn purpose into action.
