A student enrolled in one of our STEM-designated programs is eligible to apply for 24 additional months of Optional Practical Training through United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, once they have completed the standard 12 months post-completion OPT available to all F-1 students.
Please note: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) determines the STEM eligibility of all degree programs using the Department of Education’s Classification of Instructional Program (CIP) taxonomy system. DHS periodically updates its list of CIP codes, so the STEM-designated programs listed only apply to the current academic year. Programs that were STEM-designated prior to the current year may not be eligible.
