Erin-Lee Hairston, M.S. '11, CERT '12
Here at UBalt, we equip students with the knowledge and fortitude to create their own future and navigate the demands of the modern workforce. Our alumni, like Erin-Lee Hairston, M.S. ’11, CERT ’12, graduate with a portfolio of skills that adds value immediately to the workplace.
“When I decided to apply to UBalt, I was working full-time and needed a life change,” says Hairston. “Within two semesters, I knew that deciding to matriculate at UBalt was the right decision. The classes allowed me to earn certifications, network, and apply what I learned to operations on my job and internships.”
As a student, Hairston was inducted into the Tau Upsilon Alpha National Honor Society, joined the Negotiations & Conflict Management and MPA Student Associations, and served on the UB21 committee. Now as an alumna, that involvement has continued. Hairston is an active volunteer on the Alumni Advisory Council and in SavorUB, an alumni mentorship program.
After graduation, Hairston was undecided whether to reenter the career world or continue her education. She sought the advice of the Career and Internship Center and decided to pursue her doctorate degree, which she earned this year.
When not immersed in the world of academia and philanthropy, Hairston delves into Black quantum futurism, metaphysics, and Afrofuturism. She is a proud Baltimore native, cat lover, professional Aunt, co-host of a podcast on women’s professional wrestling, and live tweets most nerd shows.
“My name is Erin-Lee Hairston, Ph.D. and I’m proud to be an alumna of University of Baltimore.”
