TAKE FIVE with Mark Winchester, B.S. '12
Brand Marketing Manager at the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS)
8:00 AM
I arrive at the Brookland-CUA metro station to head to work on K Street. Bookland-CUA is not the closest metro station to me, but it happens to be my favorite station because of the graffiti and artwork on the buildings. It's my morning inspiration before going to work, and it’s the perfect 20-minute ride to read a few newspaper articles before my stop.
9:30 AM
After arriving at work, I head to my office where I organize a prioritized to-do list for the day. I also update my "upcoming projects" spreadsheet to make sure I know what's in the pipeline. I also use this time to check out our PR team's aggregated list of top stories in our industry. To stay organized I purchased red desk accessories to match our brand colors. I'm that obsessive!
12:30 PM
I typically work through lunch on most days considering we're in a busy season with lots of upcoming events. Among many things, we market conferences and events for industry leaders, and many of them occur late-spring and summer. I head over to Pret-a-Manger almost daily because I'm a brand loyalist.
3:00 PM
Myself and the marketing team walk over to Smithsonian American Art Museum located in the National Portrait Gallery. Armed with our laptops, The Courtyard Café provides the perfect backdrop to brainstorm marketing ideas for 2017. We just rebranded, so we want to make sure we keep up the momentum with fresh ideas.
6:00 PM
I head to the gym inside our office building to end the day with a decompression workout before heading home.
