Vetting and Recruiting Protocols – Student Clients

Vetting and recruiting protocols for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation’s (CEI) Coaching Program – Student Clients

  • In order to receive coaching assistance from the Center’s Coaches (Coaching Apprentices, Graduate Assistants, Volunteer Coaches, Ratcliffe Fellows, Faculty or a member of the CEI staff), clients must be a current UB Student or an Alumnus*
  • Student Clients must be exploring a particular venture or started a business; students without a defined venture concept are invited to participate with the Center’s Dreamers
  • As part of the matching process, Student Clients must complete an Intake Form online about their business
  • All walk-in Student Clients need to complete a hard copy of the Center’s Intake Form (available at the Front of the Office) and leave it with a member of the CEI staff or at the Front Desk; otherwise, a Student Client may complete this form online
  • Students must be able to articulate a specific question or need in preparation of their coaching session
  • Student Clients must be available and willing to commit time as needed to meet with designated Coach(s) and complete any assignment(s) or follow up he/she is asked to do after a coaching session
  • Based on the level of coaching services desired, Student Clients may be asked to meet with a member of the CEI staff prior to scheduling a coaching session
  • Student Clients will be asked to sign the Statement of Commitment prior to the engagement of coaching services
  • Matches with Student Clients will be made based on the interest and experience of the Center’s volunteer coaches
  • Sessions will be scheduled based on Coach’s availability; all efforts will be made to structure each session around one-on-one, team or panel coaching based on Student Client needs

*Alumni participating at this level are subject to a fee based on the nature of services or will be referred to the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
