
The University of Baltimore School of Law will lead the University in an event marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on Wednesday, April 29 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Moot Court Room in the school's John and Frances Angelos Law Center, 1420 N. Charles St. This panel discussion, led by School of Law faculty, will explore how historical and contemporary battles over power, justice and the rule of law shape the future of the nation. This event highlights how the checks and balances of constitutional government advance (or fail to advance) liberty and the general welfare in the United States. Panelists will include Professor of Law John Bessler; Professor of Law Gilda Daniels; Michael Higginbotham, the Laurence M. Katz Professor of Law; and Mortimer Sellers, Regents Professor of the University System of Maryland.
University of Baltimore President Kurt L. Schmoke will welcome the audience to the event. School of Law Dean LaVonda N. Reed will provide closing remarks.
