Ethics Week will be hosted by the University's Hoffberger Center for Ethical Engagement, Oct. 26-30

'Finding forums for ethical dialogue helps us grow. We're better positioned to make sense of our complex world.'

The University of Baltimore's Hoffberger Center for Ethical Engagement will host Ethics Week—a gathering of experts discussing some of the most relevant topics in modern society—from Oct. 26 through 30. All events listed here are open to the public, and the UBalt community is encouraged to be part of this lively and thought-provoking series of events. All in-person activities include an online option, available in Bogomolny Library Room 412.

"This year's theme on civic learning and democratic engagement is especially important and engaging for the Hoffberger Center," says Steve Scalet, director of the center and distinguished professor in the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences. "We may learn basic ethical understandings early in life, but a great value of ethical dialogue at a university, represented through our Ethics Week programming, is to express and re-examine these understandings in dialogue with others, to be surprised and elevated by considering various perspectives, some of which will be different from our own. Finding forums for ethical dialogue helps us grow in our personal and professional lives. We're better positioned to make sense of our complex world."
