Dr. Jessica Stansbury Discusses Building Community Power Through AI at Digital Equity Coalition Session, March 4

Dr. Jessica Stansbury
Center for AI Learning and Community-Engaged Innovation Director Jessica Stansbury

Dr. Jessica Stansbury, director of the Center for AI Learning and Community-Engaged
Innovation (CAILI) at The University of Baltimore, will speak on "Beyond Access: Using AI for Community Power, Workforce Pathways, and Local Innovation," as the Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition hosts a virtual session on "Building an AI-Equitable Baltimore" on Wednesday, March 4 at noon. The gathering of experts on matters of equity within the realm of technology will be free and open to the public via Zoom. Attendance details are listed below.

The coalition says that now is the time for Baltimore communities to determine the role that AI will play in institutions across the city.

"As artificial intelligence rapidly shapes education, workforce development, public services, and civic life, communities must be equipped to do more than access AI tools," the coalition says. "Digital equity leaders now face a critical next frontier: ensuring AI systems are equitable, accountable, community-informed, and beneficial to those historically excluded from technological power.

"This coalition-wide session explores how Baltimore’s digital equity ecosystem can proactively shape AI’s role in our communities—before decisions are made for us."

Dr. Stansbury, who also serves as director of teaching and learning excellence for UBalt's Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology, is one of two featured speakers at the event. She will join Amalia Deloney, founder and regenerative futures strategist at Point A Studio.

Digital equity practitioners and advocates, community-based organizations, workforce development leaders, educators and researchers, and policymakers and civic partners are encouraged to attend.

The virtual session will be held here.
