Serving as the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Dr. Ralph O. Mueller is the school’s chief academic officer. He is responsible for the guiding vision and leadership of UBalt’s academic affairs, including its four schools and colleges for upholding its commitment to student success.

Provost MuellerRalph O. Mueller was appointed senior vice president for academic affairs and provost of The University of Baltimore (UBalt) in July 2023. In that capacity, he oversees UBalt’s four schools and colleges, its student affairs division, offices of institutional effectiveness and sponsored research, as well as the Bogomolny Library.

 

Throughout his career, Provost Mueller has been an ardent student and faculty advocate, championed inclusive excellence, and fostered community engagement by building external partnerships and serving on advisory boards of community organizations.

Before joining UBalt, Mueller held other senior administrative positions, including vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Purdue University Northwest (IN) and dean of the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Hartford (CT). He also served for 16 years as professor at the George Washington University’s Graduate School of Education and Human Development and its Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration.

 

Provost Mueller earned a PhD in educational research and evaluation from Virginia Tech, an MA in mathematics from Wake Forest University, NC, and a BA in mathematics from Elon University, NC. He is a former Rotary Scholar, fellow of the American Council on Education, and the recipient of Elon's Distinguished Alumni Award.
