Dr. Gerlowski is professor of economics and longtime member of the UBalt community. He will again serve as the interim dean of the Robert G. Merrick School of Business, effective July 1, 2026 and brings extensive institutional knowledge and proven leadership to the role.
Gerlowski has previously served as both associate dean and interim dean of the Merrick School of Business. His leadership extends university-wide: he co-chaired The University of Baltimore's Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Self-Study, playing a pivotal role in the institution's accreditation and strategic planning. He also served as president of the University Faculty Senate from 2013 to 2015.
In his role as interim dean, Gerlowski emphasizes a vision centered on the holistic success and well-being of students and graduates.
"Given our regional position, we want to be an educational catalyst for upwardly mobile graduates who can solve problems in a traditional way and with new technologies. We want workforce-ready graduates who are not only impacting the world around us, but also leading happy, sustainable, and productive lives."
