Staff Senate

The Staff Senate is an integral part of Shared Governance at The University of Baltimore.

The UBalt Staff Senate (UBSS) advises President Schmoke and the Executive Committee on staff matters, recommends and reviews University policies as they affect staff, keeps staff informed and provides a forum for discussion, and ultimately recommendations, on matters of interest to staff.

Vision for 2026-2027

The University of Baltimore Staff Senate will:

• Advocate and respond to budget and other emergent issues on behalf of staff.
• Engage with staff across all modes of work, ensuring opportunities for fully in-person,fully remote, and hybrid workers.
• Foster conversations on diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure continuing action and dialogue to best support UBalt staff, students, and faculty.
• Ensure Senate remains a place where staff can advocate and push forward different initiatives,questions, concerns, etc. in a safe environment.

Mission Statement

The University of Baltimore Staff Senate:

• Advocates staff constituent concerns in shared governance.
• Provides a forum for information, discussion, and recommendations on matters involving staff welfare.
• Reviews and recommends improvements to university policies.
• Ensures equal representation of staff on policy-making boards and committees at The University of Baltimore, University System of Maryland, and other agencies as appropriate.
• Advises The University of Baltimore President and the Executive Committee on staff matters.
