Your legal first and last name will be used in the commencement ceremony program.
If you would like a preferred first name announced instead of your legal first name, please notify lawcommencement@ubalt.edu by March 15.
Graduating students will receive an email from the Law School Registrar’s Office with a form to designate how their name should appear on their diploma.
Diplomas are not distributed at the commencement ceremony. Several weeks are required after the ceremony for final grades to be posted and degrees to be officially conferred. Diplomas are mailed to the address listed in MyUBalt approximately 6–8 weeks after commencement. Students who need to update their mailing address should complete this change of information form.

To assist international guests with B-2 Visitor visa applications and travel arrangements,
the university provides a commencement invitation letter. Guests are encouraged to
review the website of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their home country for additional visa information.
Please contact lawcommencement@ubalt.edu should you need a letter.
Because final grades have not yet been submitted, current semester coursework cannot
be included in honors determinations for the ceremony. Latin honors for commencement
are therefore based on the student’s academic record through the previous semester.
Final Latin honors designations are determined after all coursework is completed and
will appear on the official transcript and diploma.
For more information about honors, contact the Law School Registrar’s Office at lawregoffice@ubalt.edu.

The law school provides cords to students who participated in Law Review, Law Forum, or the Board of Advocates only. These cords will be distributed in April by your supervising staff member. Students wishing to represent their student organization and organizing efforts throughout law school may purchase stoles or cords to wear at their own expense. State law prohibits the use of student organization funds for these types of purchases. FFor more details about graduation cords, view the Graduation Cords Master List (Excel file).
