B.A. in Policy, Politics and International Affairs

A program in the School of Public and International Affairs

As our society faces increasingly complex legal and social concerns such as aging populations, environmental and health care dilemmas, ineffective educational systems and homelessness, we turn to those who can handle our global village's rapid changes.

What Our Graduates Do

The B.A. in Policy, Politics and International Affairs program is far from a traditional political science program; instead, it combines public administration, public policy, political theory, comparative government and international relations. You'll learn to apply analytical skills to national and global problems of the 21st century.

Common Roles

  • Policy Analyst
  • Foreign Affairs Analyst
  • Government Affairs Manager

Do More

This program is designed specifically for students who lead busy lives or live and work far from UBalt's Baltimore campus.

The B.A. in Policy, Politics and International Affairs is offered fully online. Courses combine live sessions on Zoom with asynchronous coursework in Canvas, so you can connect with faculty and classmates in real time while fitting much of your work around your schedule.

Coursework outside the major may not be offered online.

UBalt offers an accelerated bachelor’s to master’s option that lets you take up to 9 graduate credits that “double count” toward both your Policy, Politics and International Affairs degree and either the M.A. in Global Affairs and Human Security or the Master of Public Administration. Get a head start on your graduate degree while saving up to $9,000. For more detailed information, see the UBalt Undergraduate Catalog.

Earn both your undergraduate and law degrees in a minimum of five years through the Law School Early Entry Option to the UBalt School of Law. Learn more about the Law School Early Entry requirements for the Policy, Politics and International Affairs program.

Minors at UBalt are a cohesive set of undergraduate courses designed to provide you with an optional opportunity to cultivate skills and knowledge through concentrated study in an area outside of your major.

The public service minor will help you develop the leadership and communication skills to prepare you for a public service career in federal, state and local government and the nonprofit sectors.

Admission Information

You can apply as a transfer student if you’ve earned 30 or more college-level credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Transferring from a Maryland community college? See which schools have transfer agreements with UBalt.

Have fewer than 30 credits? Apply as a first-time undergraduate. An admission counselor can help you find the right path.

International applicants have additional requirements, including immigration and visa documentation. Review international admission requirements before you apply.

Submit the online application. It takes just a few minutes to complete, and with rolling admissions, you can apply whenever you’re ready—no waiting periods. Before you submit, you’ll pay the $35 nonrefundable application fee by credit card or bank account. The sooner you submit a complete application, the sooner you’ll receive a decision and can start your degree in the term that works best for you.

Questions? Contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at admission@ubalt.edu or 410.837.4777.

Request official transcripts from every college or university you’ve attended, including any graduate coursework. Transcripts must be sent directly from each institution to documents@ubalt.edu. Request them as early as possible, since institutions can take time to process them.

Attended a non-U.S. institution? Submit your official transcript along with a course-by-course evaluation from a transcript evaluation service such as World Education Services.

You can send documents individually as they’re ready. Your admission portal tracks what UBalt has received.
