Textbook Credit may be used by students of the UBalt campus and Shady Grove to buy textbooks online, through UBalt's virtual textbook partner BNCVirtual, and even pay for shipping. To be eligible, a student must have completed the financial aid process, which includes completing the FAFSA and the verification process. No action is needed if a student does not wish to buy textbooks using financial aid funds.
Electing to use Textbook Credit does not change the total of your financial aid awards. It is not an additional award. This Credit is simply a way to access your financial aid for textbooks. Financial aid is not able to be used at the onlinbe campus store tp buy logo merchandise, or to buy graduation regalia.
The current dates to apply Textbook Credit for each semester can be found in the MyUBalt Portal, which is where you can opt into the credit. By applying financial aid to your Textbook Credit account in the Student Portal, you are requesting that a certain amount of your financial aid be made available to spend in the online textbook store.
The amounts you opt for Textbook Credit will appear on your student account as a charge to your student account for the semester. After the add/drop period, your financial aid will be applied towards these charges. This will result in the balance being deducted from your financial aid refund in the current semester, and then unused amounts will be refunded to you.
