Mission Statement, Program Learning Outcomes, and Assurance of Learning


Mission Statement:  The goal of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is to prepare a diverse mix of individuals for success in positions of leadership and management. Our graduates will have the following skills and competencies:

  • Goal 1: Managing Strategy and Innovation

    Description: 

    Graduates will be able to integrate knowledge to frame problems and develop creative strategies to enhance an organization’s competitiveness.

    Learning Objective 1.1:

    Students will create and evaluate an original new product/service concept using various methods that stimulate creativity. (Assess in ENTR 605)

    Learning Objective 1.2:

    Students will apply their knowledge of business and management to develop creative solutions to a strategic challenge facing an organization. (Assess in MGMT 790)

  • Goal 2: Managing Leading and People

    Description: 

    Graduates will be able to collaborate in teams and lead with integrity within a dynamic, multicultural work environment.

    Learning Objective 2.1: 

    Students will identify ethical issues and address the issues in a socially responsible manner.
    (Assess in MGMT 605)

    Learning Objective 2.2:

    Students will apply their knowledge of business and management to develop creative solutions to a strategic challenge facing an organization. (Assess in MGMT 790)

  • Goal 3: Interfacing with External Stakeholders

    Description

    Graduates will understand the processes for identifying and responding to the needs and requirements of stakeholders and constituents in the environment external to the organization.

    Learning Objective 3.1:

    Students will identify and explain the effects of market forces, the regulatory forces, and the environmental forces that impact organizations. (Assess in ECON 605)

    Learning Objective 3.2:

    Students will evaluate an organization's processes for creating and delivering value in the market, and identify strategies for enhancing its effectiveness. (Assess in MKTG 605)


     

  • Goal 4: Managing the Value Chain

    Description

    Graduates will understand the systems and processes necessary to achieve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

    Learning Objective 4.1

    Students will plan, design and improve operational systems to effectively and efficiently produce and deliver an organization's goods and services. (Assess in OPM 615 and OPM 625)

  • Goal 5: Managing Performance and Risk

    Description

    Graduates will use information to assess and manage operational performance and risk.

    Learning Objective 5.1

    Students will use accounting-based and operational information to assess performance.
    (Assess in ACCT 605)

    Learning Objective 5.2

    Students will use financial analysis to solve business problems and recommend actions that maximize shareholder value
    (Assess in FIN 605)

  • Goal 6: Leveraging Technology and Business Intelligence

    Description

    Graduates will use information and manage technology to solve complex problems and create effective business processes. 

    Learning Objective 6.1

    Students will recommend information technology to support and advance business strategy and operations. (Assess in INSS 605)  

    Learning Objective 6.1

    Students will evaluate and apply selected analytics techniques to help enhance organizational competitiveness. (Assess in OPRE 605)
