University of Baltimore Continues to Add STEM-Designated Business Programs to Portfolio

The University of Baltimore's Merrick School of Business announced that its M.S. in Accounting and Business Advisory Services program's curriculum has been optimized to meet future market conditions and is now designated as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program. The University received the approval of the Maryland Higher Education Commission on April 4. It will begin offering this curriculum in the fall of 2024.

Judges representing The University of Baltimore’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation have selected seven businesses as finalists for the upcoming "Rise to the Challenge" Pitch Competition. The annual event, now in its 12th year, provides an opportunity for members of the greater UBalt community to pitch ideas and concepts for new and existing businesses before a live audience of their peers, supporters and entrepreneurial experts from the Baltimore community. The "Rise to the Challenge" event will take place on May 2.

UBalt's BNIA-JFI, City Launch Online Resource to Show Local Impact of American Rescue Plan Act

The launch of ARPA Impact Indicators, an interactive resource designed to provide residents with insights into the impact of the $641 million American Rescue Plan Act funds allocated to Baltimore City, was announced on March 11 by Baltimore City Mayor Brandon M. Scott, along with the Mayor's Office of Recovery Programs and the University of Baltimore's Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance–Jacob France Institute.
'Pitch for a Million' Real Estate Development Competition, Feb. 8

The University of Baltimore's Merrick School of Business will present the fourth edition of its "Pitch for a Million" Real Estate Fellows Competition on Feb. 8. Sponsored by M&T Bank, Baltimore Community Lending, and the UBalt Real Estate and Economic Development Advisory Board, the challenge features UBalt Real Estate Fellows, both students and alumni, in a competition to find the best neighborhood development proposal as pitched to a panel of experts. The winning proposal will receive at least $10,000 in equity and a start in the process of acquiring project financing (up to $1 million) from Baltimore Community Lending.
