In a speech to The University of Baltimore community delivered on Sept. 2 in the Wright Theater, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Ralph O. Mueller presented an array of initiatives and activities that coalesce around the idea of engagement.
Quoting from the University's successful acquisition of its Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement, Mueller noted, "Overall, UBalt presents a strong and integrated model of community engagement, characterized by leadership support, policy alignment, academic integration, and a vibrant civic culture."
"As you can glean, academic and student affairs are at the core of the plan: modern learning environments, relevant academic programming, strengthened engagement, and enhanced student supports," he said.
TYurning to the faculty, staff and students gathered for the event, Mueller said, "You have done much this past academic year–and we congratulate you! ... Enrollments grow when students see personal value. And knowledge becomes valuable to me, when it works, when I engage with my community, civics, or my career."
