Living the Student Life

There's a lot of life in student life at UB and lots to like about it. Here on our lively urban campus, located in the heart of UB Midtown, you'll meet one of the most diverse and interesting student bodies in the entire University System of Maryland. And you can become a big part of it!

To get into the UB student life scene, be sure to check out the University's fall and spring semester Welcome Week, which includes social events with free food and outreach tables with more information about student groups and student services.

And be sure to stop by the Henry and Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Center for Student Involvement. The center coordinates all student life activities on campus the popular student government block party, social events, keynote speakers and various cultural opportunities.

The center is big on community service, too, sponsoring opportunities such as a leadership program and an annual Community Service Day, during which UB students, faculty and staff spend a fun but productive day lending a collective hand to local community organizations.

UB Housing

UB's campus is definitely nontraditional, woven into the dynamic cityscape we call home. However, if you want to live “on campus,” UB Housing can help you tap into attractive nearby housing resources and even find a roommate. UB has made arrangements with several apartment complexes within a short walk of campus to provide you with cost-effective, convenient living options.

In addition to online resources, UB Housing also offers apartment guides for the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, maps, transportation information and other printed resources to help you find the ideal place to live.

Student Clubs

Choose from 50 active student-run clubs or start your own. UB also hosts honor societies, academic-interest groups and special-interest groups based on diversity, activities, hobbies and more.

Visit the Rosenberg Center for Student Involvement office in the UB Student Center, Room 303, for a complete schedule of events, a club and organization handbook, leadership resources and information local community activities.

Becoming a Leader

Nothing impresses a potential employer more than leadership experience and team-building skills. Through Leadership UB, UB's leadership certification program, you can develop these important career skills and have fun at the same time. The program offers workshops, community service activities, multimedia resources and more, and you can earn a certificate as either an Emerging or Established Leader.

Student Spaces

Designed with student input, the UB Student Center features an array of modern, convenient services for the UB community. You'll find a 200-seat recital hall, multipurpose room, study lounge, TV lounge, game room, convenience store and cafe. The UB Student Center also houses the Rosenberg Center for Student Involvement, the Career and Professional Development Center, a computer lab, offices and meeting space for clubs and organizations, and plenty of open spaces for you to just hang out between classes.

The new Barnes & Noble at the University of Baltimore is located just steps from campus at the Fitzgerald at UB Midtown residential/retail complex (Mount Royal Avenue and Oliver Street). As the first Barnes & Noble “college superstore” in the University System of Maryland, the store offers a huge selection of popular books, textbooks and merchandise in addition to a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating and free Wi-Fi.

Whether you want to study alone or with a group, you can find a quiet spot in the UB Student Center, Langsdale Library or the Law Library.

International and Multicultural Student Services

UB's Diversity and Culture Center actively promotes an appreciation for diversity and a global perspective among our students, faculty and staff. We celebrate our campus as a place that reflects our inclusive community a place that embraces everyone, regardless of racial or ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, class, age, religion or ability. UB offers culturally focused training, education programs, resources and services to give our community the skills to thrive in an increasingly global culture.

Shape Up!

UB's Campus Recreation and Wellness facilities feature all the amenities of a full-service fitness center and more. The Recreation Center's exercise facilities feature high-tech strength-training machines, Nautilus equipment and separate rooms for free weights, spinning and plyometrics. Add to that a basketball court, racquetball courts, an aerobic studio, personal training and group classes. The center also is home to the University's growing intramurals and sports club programs.
