Biography
Dean Gaslevic, a proud UBalt Law alumna, was named associate dean for administration
in August 2022 after a lengthy career in higher education, during which she served
as both attorney and administrator.
Dean Gaslevic began her career in higher education at the Maryland Attorney General’s
Office, where she was appointed assistant attorney general and senior counsel for
advice in the Higher Education Division and represented various University System
of Maryland clients, including the University of Baltimore. Dean Gaslevic also worked
with University System of Maryland leaders to advise on and create system-wide policy.
At Johns Hopkins University, Dean Gaslevic served as both assistant vice provost and
Title IX coordinator and interim vice provost for institutional equity. She led the
Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), which serves all Hopkins divisions in the United
States and internationally, by ensuring institution compliance with federal, state
and local laws related to affirmative action and equal opportunity; investigating
all protected-class discrimination and harassment complaints; providing harassment
prevention and disability services training; and serving as a central resource for
faculty, staff and students in connection with discrimination and harassment concerns,
as well as disability, pregnancy and religious accommodations.
Dean Gaslevic served as the Hopkins representative on, and held a leadership role
within, the National Academies of Science Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual
Harassment in Higher Education, and served on the Association of American Universities
Advisory Board on Sexual Harassment in Academia.
Directly before joining UBalt Law, Dean Gaslevic was senior counsel at the large national
law firm of Husch Blackwell, where she advised a wide range of higher education clients
on matters such as student and faculty affairs, compliance, policy development, training
and case management.
In her role as associate dean for administration at UBalt Law, Dean Gaslevic is responsible
for the administration of the law school, with approximately 100 faculty and staff
members, a student body of more than 700 students, and a budget of more than $24 million.
Dean Gaslevic oversees and manages finance and administration, grants, admissions,
career services, the law library, fundraising and development, external relations
and international programs.
Additional responsibilities include managing a range of personnel, safety and facilities
issues. Dean Gaslevic also helps to lead strategic planning as well as the reaccreditation
of the law school, and assists to launch key initiatives such as the development of
new programs, and identifying and pursuing alternative funding sources to enhance
revenues. Dean Gaslevic serves on law school and university committees and works with
a range of university and community partners to accomplish law school goals.
