Eubie Awards: a celebration of student life and service

The 2018 Eubie Awards are coming!

Thursday, April 26th at 6 p.m.
Student Center 5th floor.

The Eubie Awards is an annual event that highlights and celebrates student accomplishments and contributions to leadership, campus life and the University of Baltimore community. Students are recognized for their investment in co-curricular programs and their commitment to improving the campus experience for all. The award winners are nominated by their peers and faculty or staff at the University of Baltimore, all nominations are then reviewed and the voted on by a committee built from UB faculty and staff.

Nominations are submitted via OrgSync and are due on Wednesday, March 14 by 11 p.m.

  • Awards Presented to Students


    President's Award

    Presented to a graduating senior and graduate student who demonstrated academic excellence (3.75 GPA or higher) and who made outstanding contributions in student activities AND community outreach activities which bring credit to the University.

    2016-17 recipients: Jordan Borkoski and KaeShawn Stewart


    Student Services Award

    Presented to two seniors and two graduate students, who are graduating and in good academic standing (at least 2.0), who have made outstanding contributions to student activities and/or community outreach activities, which bring credit to the University.

    2016-17 recipients: Liz Jackson, Christine Wertz, Elizabeth Paige, and Aneesa Khan


    Sigma Alpha Omicron Award

    Presented to three students, graduate and/or undergraduate and in good academic standing (at least 2.0), who have made significant contributions to student life at the University through student government or student activities.

    2016-17 recipients: Allison Chatham, Dorian Walker and Sonce Reese


    Gabriel Aguirre Award

    Presented to a non-Student Government Association student (undergraduate, graduate or law) who has made outstanding contributions to student life at the University of Baltimore.

    2016-17 recipient: Dawn Hubbs


    Rising Star Award

    Presented to a freshman or sophomore who has shown great drive and commitment to student activities.

    2016-17 recipient: Jordan Cook


    Living the Creed Award

    Presented to a student who is the personification of the UB Creed. Recipients are contributing members of the campus community; act with integrity and responsibility; seek to understand and respect the differences in others; pursue knowledge; and foster excellence for themselves and their community.

    2016-17 recipients: Brittany Thompson, Catanna Anderson and Kristen Mack


    Beth Mizell Grit Award

    Presented to a UB student who has demonstrated hard work, resilience and passion in the pursuit of their education at the University of Baltimore. Recipients exhibit a commitment to excellence exemplified by achievements accomplished through character, grit and perseverance over adversity and should be in good academic standing.

  • Awards Presented to Student Organizations


    Organization of the Year

    This award is for non-law organizations that have been in existence for more than one academic year. The group who will receive this has improved the life of UB students through programming, community service or a combination of the two.

    2016-17 recipient: Improv Club


    Law Organization of the Year

    This award is for law organizations that have been in existence for more than one academic year. The group who will receive this has improved the life of UB students through programming, community service or a combination of the two.

    2016-17 recipient: Women's Bar Association


    On the Move

    This award is given to an organization that has been in existence for less than three years and has made significant contributions toward improving campus life at UB.

    2016-17 recipients: National Lawyers Guild Student Chapter


    Program of the Year

    This award is presented to a student organization for a specific program that has bettered campus life at UB. Students may be advised by professional staff, but planning and implementation must be executed primarily by students. The program should demonstrate excellence in programming, achieve its outcomes and should exemplify outstanding creativity or introduce new approaches. Cultural, entertainment and civic engagement programs are all eligible for this recognition.

    Community Engagement

    This award is given to an organization that has demonstrated a commitment to exemplary community service.

    2016-17 recipients: Students Supporting the Women's Law Center

  • Awards Presented to Staff or Faculty


    Lifetime Achievement

    Nominees must be employed at UB at least five years and demonstrate outstanding service distinctly above and beyond the call of duty to students and the UB community.

    2016-17 recipient: Troy Zinderman


    Advisor of the Year

    This award is given to a student organization adviser who has made a significant positive impact on a UB student organization. Any student organization adviser who has served for at least one year is eligible for this award. Please provide specific examples of the nominee's contributions.
