Fall 2017 Welcome Weeks

What is Welcome Weeks?

Welcome Weeks, usually held during the first and/or second week of class, is one of the first traditions that students get to experience on campus. It is an opportunity for all students—new and returning—to:

  • build community
  • connect to resources
  • experience all that UB and the city of Baltimore have to offer.

    Donate $5 cash or five non-perishable food items (i.e. cereal, canned beans, pasta, spaghetti sauce—no ramen noodles, please) and receive a free T-shirt!

    Stop by the tent on Gordon Plaza with any questions that you have about navigating campus or the first week of classes

    Welcome Week Bingo
    8-10 p.m.
    UB Student Center, 5th Floor Bogomolny Room
    Come out for the chance to win awesome prizes, to be announced as the event nears. Only currently enrolled UB students are eligible to win. Bee Card required.

    Wear blue to show your UB pride. You never know where the Pride Patrol may show up with free swag for students in blue!

    Join UB President Kurt L. Schmoke and other UB leaders for a formal welcome to UB. Meet key administrators, learn the University creed and sing along to the UB alma mater.

    4:30-6:30 p.m.

    Savor some picnic fare--including hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers--with your classmates. Bee Card required.

    Stop by the library for an open house and a sweet treat.

    Involvement Fair

    Learn about opportunities to be involved on campus via student organizations, opportunities to volunteer with community agencies and local resources available to students.

    Law Organization Fair

    Learn how you can join and be involved with one of the more than 25 law organizations.

    Facebook Live Ask Me Anything: New Students

    Interactive live stream answering questions and providing information to new students. Join the Class of 17-18 Facebook Group to watch! The event will also be shared via the Be More at UB Facebook page.

    Cheer on the Orioles as they take on the Toronto Blue Jays! Your ticket, a $43 value, includes admission to the game and unlimited select menu items (e.g., hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, peanuts, salad, soft drinks and ice cream).

    Tickets (limit of four) will be on sale in the Center for Student Involvement (Student Center 302):
     - Students ($15), sales begin Monday, July 10 at 10 a.m.
     - Staff and Faculty ($25), sales begin Tuesday, August 29 at 10 a.m.

    Tickets are non-refundable and only available while supplies last.
