The Master of Public Administration program in The University of Baltimore's College of Public Affairs has earned the U.S. News and World Report's "Best Graduate Schools" ranking in its just-published 2023 edition. The MPA, the first in the state to be fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), was ranked at #65, tied with Binghamton University, Naval Postgraduate School, University of Alabama and University of California-San Diego. The magazine assessed 270 graduate programs in public administration, policy and public affairs. The UBalt program continues to be ranked in the nation's top 25 percent, where it has been for the past six years.
"With a move from #69 to #65, this year's ranking represents an increase in our national reputation," says Roger Hartley, dean of the College of Public Affairs. "We are so excited for our students, faculty, staff and alumni to be ranked among the best universities in the nation for public administration and public policy."
Other Maryland-based programs cited in the 2023 U.S. News rankings are the University of Maryland-College Park (#35) and Bowie State University (#193).
"The MPA program's continued rise in the 2023 U.S. News and World Report rankings reflects highly on the valuable contributions made by our public administration faculty and the College of Public Affairs,” says Ivan Sascha Sheehan, executive director of the college's School of Public and International Affairs. "It is immensely rewarding to work with scholars committed to preparing students for careers in the public and nonprofit sectors and to witness students eager to engage in public service. I am thrilled to see our graduate program once again earn national recognition."
