What We Support

  • Accessible course materials that work across devices and support screen readers, keyboard navigation, and proper semantic structure.
  • Accessible documents created with headings, lists, and clear structure so all students can read and navigate them easily.
  • Accessible PDFs that include searchable text, meaningful tags, and logical reading order.
  • Accessible media with captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions when needed.
  • Accessible learning tools and platforms that meet usability expectations for students with different abilities.

What Faculty and Staff Should Do

  • Create accessibly from the start by using clean, semantic HTML and structures that work with assistive technology.
  • Use proper headings to communicate page structure and support screen reader navigation.
  • Write meaningful alt text for images and visual media, describing purpose rather than appearance.
  • Use descriptive link text that clearly explains the destination or action.
  • Provide captions and transcripts for audio and video content whenever possible.
  • Ensure PDFs are accessible before publishing and avoid locked or scanned-only documents.
  • Choose HTML-first content delivery whenever possible for better accessibility and mobile usability.
