Honor Societies, Military Recognition and Latin Honors
We need you to identify the honor societies you belong to so we can recognize you in the commencement program. If you are a member of any of the following UB honor societies should complete the commencement information form.
For more information about graduation cords and stoles please visit the Graduation Regalia page.
Below is a list of currently known Honor Societies (though there may be others that are not known to our office that you may submit for). Each society handles cords, stoles, and commencement recognition differently. Some purchase items for their members; others submit requests for items on their members' behalf, while others require members to obtain these items on their own.
Please contact your organization's President or Advisor with any questions about obtaining cords, stoles, or other items.

UB takes great pride in recognizing graduating students who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Students will be recognized in the commencement program with a star next to their name to signify their success and honor their courage and service. For inclusion please use this form.
Please submit the form no later than Nov. 8 (Fall) and April 6 (Spring).
Since final grades will not yet be submitted, current coursework cannot be considered when making the honors determination for the ceremony. Therefore, Latin honors are assigned using the student’s record from the previous semester. The final designation earned will be awarded based on the student’s entire record and will appear the official transcript and diploma.
No additional stoles or cords are presented to students graduating with Latin Honors. Students awarded honors must have the appropriate GPA and at least 48 credits earned at the University of Baltimore. For more information about honors, contact the Office of Records and Registration at 410.837.4825.
Latin Honors Designations:
- Cum Laude: Cumulative UB GPA of 3.50-3.74
- Magna Cum Laude: Cumulative UB GPA of 3.75-3.89
- Summa Cum Laude: Cumulative UB GPA of 3.90-4.00
Please note: Honors designations are not used for graduate students.
