For all personal computers being used at home, remember to protect them with current antivirus and Internet security software. This can be included with your Operating System, or you can choose to purchase supplemental software to further protect you. Be sure to configure the software to automatically obtain software and virus definition updates.
Windows 10 users
If your personal computer is running Windows 10, it already has Windows Security with Windows Defender antivirus software built right in.

Windows 7 Users
If your personal computer is running Windows 7, please note that your system is no longer supported and is easily susceptible to viruses. malware, and hackers.

If you are running Windows 7, you will need to upgrade it to Windows 10 or buy a brand new computer that has a secure Operating System (Windows 10, macOS, iPadOS, Chrome OS).

Mac Users
If you have a Mac running macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra or Newer, your Mac comes with GateKeeper and other security features to keep your computer protected.

In general, be sure to allow macOS to run software updates. Click here to learn how.
If you are running an older version of macOS (10.12.x Sierra, 10.11.x El Capitan, or older), you should upgrade to the latest support version.
Determine if you can upgrade your Mac to the latest macOS 10.15.x Catalina by clicking here.
If your Mac does not support Catalina, click here to try and see if it at least supports High Sierra.
If your Mac cannot upgrade to Catalina, Mojave, or High Sierra, it may be time to purchase a new computer for the best protection.
