Build the foundation for a successful legal career with our Juris Doctor program. This degree combines rigorous coursework with required, hands-on client experience. You'll learn from faculty who are practicing attorneys, judges, and legal scholars, and put that training to work through clinics and externships before you ever graduate. Choose the schedule that fits your life — full-time day, part-time day, or our part-time evening Flex J.D. — all leading to the same 87-credit degree.
*A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required for admission.
Beyond the required courses, you'll choose from one of the most comprehensive sequences of lawyering-skills electives offered by any law school in the country — more than 130 course titles beyond the first-year curriculum, plus 8 areas of concentration and 19 practice tracks. Simulation courses build the full range of skills you'll need in practice — trial and appellate advocacy, pretrial litigation, interviewing and negotiation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution, and planning and drafting — with 420 simulation seats available each year. From there, you'll test those skills in the real world through the School of Law's nationally recognized clinical law program or through externships, with 150 clinic seats and 158 field placement positions filled last year alone.
Take a lighter course load during the day across your first three semesters, with the flexibility to move at your own pace. A good fit if you want a traditional daytime schedule without the full-time course load.
