UBalt is committed to continuous improvement in our administrative units' work to advance the institutional mission in support of the strategic plan. Each UBalt administrative unit completes its assessment through the support of the Administrative Core Assessment Team, a collaborative community of practice for assessment representatives from each division. Annually, each unit puts forward their annual assessment results, highlighting their strategic priorities and successes and areas of particular focus for enhancements. Assessment results from administrative units are joined with the academic assessment, coordinated by the Academic Core Assessment Team, in an annual report out to the University Community.  Discussions among relevant parties include prioritization, resource allocation and implementation plans for interventions, all within the context of measuring our impact. Please contact the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at assessment@ubalt.edu, if your unit would like assistance in developing or modifying your plan or with any questions about assessment.

All academic programs are expected to conduct assessments of at least two program SLOs every academic year, or to assess all program SLOs over a 2-year period. A complete SLO assessment report (including assessment findings and action plans) must be entered into SharePoint no later than July 1.

Each program should assess either 1) at least two program student learning outcomes each academic year; or, 2) assess all program SLOs over a two-year period. Please indicate your chosen assessment cycle in the ‘assessment cycle’ document. Do not wait until the last minute to do all your assessment work as meaningful analysis and reflection take time. Associate Deans are responsible for making sure that assessments are completed on time and that assessment materials are uploaded into SharePoint properly.

ADCAT and ACAT members share challenges and successes within their committees and serve as trainers for staff and faculty within their respective areas.  Faculty and staff may request 1:1 consultation with the Assessment & Technology coordinator for assistance with UBalt’ s assessment site on SharePoint or to discuss assessment more generally.

Professional development opportunities are available for faculty and staff involved in assessment.    Periodic specialized opportunities are offered through the Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology (CELTT). Faculty and staf may deepen their understanding of assessment through work with school-specific committees, assessment days, or participating in General Education Council.
