The Law School Honor Code establishes the standards of academic integrity and professional conduct expected of all students at the University of Baltimore School of Law. It reflects the School's commitment to developing lawyers who bring not only legal skill but sound ethical judgment to their professional lives.

The Honor Code is administered by the Honor Board, a body composed of law students and faculty members who have been selected to represent and serve the law school community. The Honor Board's work falls into two core functions, education and enforcement.
On the education side, the Honor Board works proactively to ensure that students understand
what the Honor Code requires and why those standards matter. This includes orienting
incoming students to the Code's principles and serving as an ongoing resource for
questions about academic integrity and professional responsibility.
When a potential violation is reported, the Honor Board oversees a structured process
designed to be thorough and fair to all parties involved. Throughout the process,
the Honor Board is guided by principles of fairness, confidentiality, and due process.
The goal is not simply punitive but to preserve the integrity of the law school community
and hold all students to a consistent professional standard.
Katelin Carter
Katelin is a 3L and serves as Honor Board Chair. She is also a Property Law Scholar,
a Teaching Assistant for ILS, and a Staff Editor for Law Forum. Katelin has accepted
a full-time position as an associate attorney at MPL Law Firm, LLP, where she previously
worked as a summer associate, and is most interested in civil litigation, family law,
and municipal law. Outside of law school, Katelin enjoys thrifting, watching movies,
cooking, and hanging out with her three cats.
Allison John
Allison is a 3L (Part-Time Day) student and serves as President of both the Christian
Law Students Association and the South Asian Law Students Association. She is most
interested in Trusts and Estates and Family Law. Outside of law school, Allison works
at UMBC, her alma mater, as a Graduate Coordinator for First-Year Engagement, helping
welcome new first-year students, and enjoys running, spending time with her dog, and
reading.
Rebekah Garrett
Rebekah is a 2L who serves as Director of Communications for Students Supporting the
Women's Law Center, a Staff Editor for Law Review, a Law Scholar for Torts and Contracts,
a UB Leads Mentor, and an Admissions Ambassador. She is interested in a wide array
of practice areas, including family law, estate planning, civil rights law, and victim
advocacy. Outside of law school, Rebekah writes songs, sings, and plays guitar and
piano, and also enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and running.
Alexis is a 3L at the University of Baltimore School of Law with a background as a Registered Nurse in Quality Assurance, Population Health, and Medical-Surgical Orthopedics. That clinical experience drives her interest in health law, and she plans to pursue either health transactional work or medical malpractice litigation after graduation. On campus, Alexis serves as President of the Health Law Society, works as a Research Assistant for Professor Ben Wilson, and serves as a Student Representative for Barbri. She was also an Orientation Lead for UBLEADS. Outside of school, she enjoys live music and concerts, and is always on the hunt for a new restaurant to try.
Margaret (Maggie) Galloway
Maggie is a 4E student and a member of Law Review. She currently works with Baltimore
City and hopes to become a prosecutor there after graduation. Outside of law school,
Maggie enjoys hiking, painting, and baking.
Natalia Ortega
Natalia is a 3L and a member of Mock Trial, Associate Editor for Law Forum, and President
of Phi Alpha Delta. She is interested in criminal law and holds a B.A. in Criminology
from the University of Maryland, College Park. Outside of law school, Natalia enjoys
reading, traveling, and building Legos.
Ethan A. Gumagay
Ethan is a 2L who serves as President of APALSA, an Oralist for Jessup Moot Court,
a Staff Editor for Law Forum, Bar Association Director for SBA, and a Student Representative
on the Bar Passage Committee. He spent his 1L summer interning with the Air Force
Court of Criminal Appeals and is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #4654.
Outside of law school, Ethan enjoys traveling.
Macy Hamlett
Macy is a 3L and serves as Comments Editor for Law Review and a Law Scholar for Civil
Procedure 1, having previously served as a UB Leads Mentor and a Law Scholar for Property.
She will join a Baltimore litigation firm as an associate after graduation and holds
an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. Outside of
law school, Macy enjoys cooking, walking her dog, exercising, and watching a good
comedy.
Javawna West
Javawna is a 3L Day student who serves as SBA's Director of Student Activities, a
Barbri Representative, and an Admissions Ambassador, and previously served as BLSA
Treasurer during the 2025-2026 school year. She is interested in civil litigation
and will clerk for the Honorable Dennis Robinson in the Circuit Court of Baltimore
County after graduation. Outside of law school, Javawna loves to volunteer, skate,
and try new restaurants.
Vinita Obi
Vinita is a 2L who serves as Events Coordinator for the Criminal Law Association (2026-2027),
Secretary of the American Constitution Society, and a team member for the Constance
Baker Motley Mock Trial. She is interested in corporate law, as well as labor and
employment law. Outside of law school, Vinita enjoys cooking, baking, reading mystery
novels, and watching movies.
Monifa Yearby
Monifa is a 2E student and a member of the Black Law Students Association. She plans
to continue working in healthcare and aspires to serve as in-house general counsel
for a large health system or as an attorney with the federal government, focusing
on healthcare law. Outside of law school, Monifa enjoys working out, trying new restaurants,
spending time with her Goldendoodle, and word search puzzles.
Michael Fullerton
Michael is a 3L who serves as Vice President of Mock Trial and a member of the Honor
Board. He is interested in criminal law. Outside of law school, Michael enjoys weightlifting
and spending time with family.
Antonio Palas
Antonio is currently a 3rd-year evening student and in his second year on the Honor
Board. During the day, he serves as the law clerk for the District Court Division
of the Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office, where he intends to become a prosecutor
after law school. When not working or in school, Antonio enjoys reading, watching
movies, playing golf, and grilling.
Tony Isaacs
Tony is a 3L and a member of GMLA. He hopes to serve as a USMC Judge Advocate after
graduation. Outside of law school, Tony enjoys swimming, shooting, cooking, music
composition, road trips, and anything related to NYC.
Ekenyenna (DK) Ezenekwe
DK is a 2E student and a member of the Honor Board and UB Leads. He is interested
in government, policy, and education. Outside of law school, DK works as a Career
Coach at Southern High School in Anne Arundel County, enjoys lifting weights, watching
football and basketball, and grilling, and has been married for nine years with two
daughters, ages 5 and 2.
Members can serve as general body members or apply for a leadership position within
the Honor Board. Leadership roles include:
Each leadership role specializes in facilitating that particular part of the Honor Board process. These positions are open to any member, including first-year members, and require a short additional essay explaining why the applicant would like to serve in that role and why they feel qualified.
Serving as Honor Board Chair requires being a second-year member and a 3L.
New Honor Board members are selected each spring. Members are expected to be available
for monthly meetings and to serve in various capacities when a complaint is filed.

Process Aid: Professor Zina Makar is the designated Process Aide. Each year, the Dean appoints a full-time faculty member to serve as a "Process Aide" for students who are involved in Honor Code proceedings. At the student's request, the Process Aide will provide information about the Honor Code process and alternatives available at each stage. The Process Aide is not the student's attorney.
